The most incredible piece of music ever written. Mahler's second, the Resurrection Symphony. After Dad died, Linda reminded me that when his father had died, Dad came home after the funeral and played this in memory of him. He sat on the couch, closed his eyes, and honored his father in the best way he knew.
You know, I just had to post this version too- I love how Leonard Bernstein is singing along.
But what gets me is that I can't ask Dad which conductor and orchestra did it best.

Leonard Bernstein with the NY Philharmonic
That is the version he thought was best. He accused me of stealing his copy once and I got so mad I walked out of the house and drove home (all the way across town). When I got home the phone was ringing and he was hanging his head in shame because he found the CD which he had misplaced!
HA! We had a good laugh.
Thanks for telling me. It means a lot.
