Ding was the most awesome little bell thing- a buddhist chime, I think. Sister Linda gave it to him, and you can see the look of joy and wonder on his face when he rang it- it made the most amazing loud and clear "DING". After that he kept it on his mantel and hooked up a magnetic contraption that would randomly ding it. When we'd sit around, ding would occasionally join in the conversation. Ding was a family member.
We had plans to make "DONG". A large cast iron bell that we could hang from the rafters in the back of the living room (near where wire man sat). We were wondering if the rafters could carry the weight of the bell we had in mind though.

Ding still lives. It rings on and on and on. As long as the electromagnet is plugged in. "SHUT UP DING!!"
