My sister is kind enough to post some pictures for me because I cannot access my blog to do it myself (luckily I can email posts to my blog, but not pictures).
The first picture was taken from our hotel window. It is the rooftops of the Ganyu Hutong. A hutong is a warren of buildings with courtyards and alleys. The part facing the street may be either a wall or a series of shops. Inside are houses. These are being slowly torn down by the government and people are being moved to high-rise apartment buildings. They all have the distinctive Chinese-shaped tile roofs.
The second picture is my DH outside one of the restaurants in the Ganyu Hutong. A lot of the store signs are in Chinese and English, but it's fractured English that doesn't make a lot of sense.
The next three pictures were taken at the Summer Palace. There is a lot of history to the place which I only half listened to. More interesting to me were the hundreds of Chinese tourists there who were all eating corn on the cob. They were very curious about us and very friendly. I'll post a report about our day a bit later.
